Dr. Taryn Waraksa-Deutsch found her niche in microscopy during her grade school years, which fast-tracked her career as a board-certified Cytologist following an accelerated Master's program. In this role, she examines cells under the microscope to identify infectious, pre-cancerous, or malignant changes in cells from anywhere in the human body. An avid volunteer in her field of Laboratory Medicine, Dr. Waraksa-Deutsch also serves on multiple committees across her professional societies, including the American Society for Clinical Pathology and the American Society of Cytopathology.
Dr. Waraksa-Deutsch's previous supervisor functioned as a mentor, encouraging her to take on more leadership roles and responsibilities with the hope that she would eventually fill his shoes and lead the department through future changes. A challenge existed, though, as Laboratory Medicine is often a "hidden" field in the overall healthcare landscape, but Dr. Waraksa-Deutsch was determined to promote visibility and the multidisciplinary approach in her health system. A Health Science Doctorate (DHSc) was the next logical step, and with that, Dr. Waraksa-Deutsch graduated from 国产哟哟 in 2023, as a member of the DHSc program's inaugural cohort.
Dr. Waraksa-Deutsch joined 国产哟哟 in 2025, facilitating the development and completion of DHSc students' doctoral projects. Primarily driven by quantitative research methods, her subject matter expertise includes continuous improvement, total quality management, change management, organizational excellence, intrinsic motivation, and mentorship. Taking a transformational approach to leadership and research, Dr. Waraksa-Deutsch fosters an environment of collaboration and cultivates personal and professional development in all healthcare professionals.
